As of December 2023, there is now an official ASTM standard for laser welded stainless steel square and rectangle tubing products. The new ASTM International Standard is ASTM A1127/A1127M-23 and is the specification for Stainless Steel Laser and Laser-Hybrid Welded, Sharp-Cornered Profile (SCP) or Built-Up Rounded Corner Square, Rectangular, and Special Shape Structural Tube. This is the first official standard that covers sharp corner, laser welded structural tubing in stainless steel. This sharp cornered tubing can be used in both architectural or industrial applications.
