Stainless structural products have been available since the 1960’s but they were much more prevalent in Europe. Over the past decade the interest in our stainless steel products grew in the states. The need for an American source of stainless structural shapes arose.
The Beginning was Montanstahl
In 2005 Montanstahl decided to establish its first product specific company, Stainless Structurals. The company first opened a warehouse and sales office in Jacksonville, Florida. They stocked laser fused and hot rolled sections to support American company’s needs for stainless structural shapes. At this time Stainless Structurals produced all products overseas in either Switzerland or India and shipped on containers to Jacksonville for distribution. As business began to grow and word spread that stainless structural shapes were now available. More and more projects were switching from carbon steel or aluminum to stainless steel. Overall business was growing but there was still an unmet need of domestically produced material, and Stainless Structurals was ready to fulfill that need.
Stainless Structurals captures America
In 2012 the company opened a manufacturing facility and sales office here in the United States. Located in Conroe, Texas this 125,000 square foot facility sits on 44 acres with plenty of room for future expansion. We also maintain a sales office in St. Augustine, Florida. In the five years that the plant has been open, we have seen business grow to where we are running 3 shifts, 5 days a week.
Laser Fused Sections Made in Texas
Our plant in Texas can produce Laser Fused sections in steel beam, channel, angle, tee and custom shapes in sizes from as small as 2 inches up to 20 inches. Lengths are available from 10 feet up to 40 feet. We also can process unequal leg angle in our Texas facility. Equipment included in our plant includes a laser that can cut up to 1 inch thick material, our laser fusion line, automatic straighteners, de-twisters, and blasting and pickling tanks for our standard finish.
Our latest product that we can make in Texas is square cornered, laser fused tubing in square and rectangle sizes. Primarily in grades 304/L or 316/L, our size range is from 3 inches up to 8 inches in a thickness range of 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch. With our manufacturing capabilities in Texas, we can meet domestic requirements on most sizes of stainless shapes. If your requirement is outside our range, we can most likely produce at Montanstahl in Switzerland which would still be DFARS compliant.

The plant in Texas has become a huge asset for the company. By being centrally located we are able to ship our products all over North America with ease. We are also close to the Port of Houston where we can still receive weekly containers in from Switzerland. We know that having domestic product available is a need in the industry. With the new administration in office, this need for domestic steel will grow.
