To assist architects, engineers and designers with using stainless steel structural profiles in their designs, Stainless Structurals America has now made Revit files available for the standard sections. Please continue reading below to find out more information.
What is Revit?
In general terms, Autodesk Revit is a building information modeling (BIM) software. It works in Microsoft Windows to allow users such as architects and engineers to design with parametric modeling and drafting elements. Revit allows the users to design a structure in 3D and access all relevant information from the building model’s database. One of the biggest benefits of Revit is that the model captures all relationships between the different components in the design such that a change to any element will result in a change everywhere in the model. This is essential when multiple disciplines are working together on the same project.
Revit also allows for easy modeling, rendering and implementation for designers. Its work environment allows for upstream and downstream collaboration. Projects involving full buildings or just specific assemblies can be designed using Revit modeling tools. Revit includes three basic categories of objects or families. These include System families such as roofs and walls, Loadable families such as steel profiles that can be built separate and loaded into a project, and In-Place families. All of these types of families can be created as parametric models with dimensions and specifications. This allows users to change predefined parameters such as height, width and length.
Stainless Structurals in Revit
At Stainless Structurals, one of our core elements is that we help our customers think outside the box and we strive to make their designs a reality. The advancements in technology with programs such as Revit make it easier to design buildings, systems and structures. Up until now, Revit was not available for most standard stainless steel structural shapes. That is no longer the case.
Revit uses .RVT files for storing BIM models and the families are saved as .RFA files and imported in to the databases as needed. Stainless Structurals now has .RFA files available for its full product range of standard stainless steel structural shapes. This includes beams, channels, angles, tees and structural square and rectangle tubing.
These Revit files are available for download on our website at this link.
Product Information and Support
Along with these Revit files, Stainless Structurals has many other documents and downloads available on our support page. Structural sections in stainless steel are becoming increasing popular in the architecture, engineering and construction community. We strive to provide as much information as possible to assist with designing with stainless steel profiles. Please visit our website or contact us today for more information.
