Stainless Structurals is widely known across North America for our standard laser fused structural products like beams, channels, angle and tees. We also stock various sizes of these same products in the standard stainless steel hot rolled sections. What many people do not know about us is that with our parent company Montanstahl, in Stabio, Switzerland, we have the ability to produce custom stainless profiles from several manufacturing methods.
One of these methods is our hot rolling line. Our hot rolling line is unique in that we produce stainless steel hot rolled sections from feeding wire rod continuously through hot rollers to make a specific shape. We can produce hot rolled sections up to 2-1/4” diameter and lengths up to 27 feet. We also have the ability to recoil the product if that works better for the customer’s application. Our hot rolling line offers many design options in various alloys. In general, our hot rolling process is best suited for producing smaller to midsize custom geometrical shapes.
Stainless Steel Hot Rolled Sections Benefit
Stainless steel hot rolled sections are beneficial to use for many reasons. Just like with the standard hot rolled shapes like hot rolled channel, this method is the most cost effective if applicable. Our method of using wire rod offers considerable savings to the customer because of smaller order minimums and lower tooling costs. The only limitations of hot rolling is the size range as this method is not for larger size sections and there is usually a 3 to 5 ton minimum required.
There are numerous applications for stainless steel hot rolled sections today and new applications are continuously growing. These products are currently used in industries like general building and construction, machinery, parts and hardware, transportation, water and wastewater, pharmaceutical and many more. Now that you know we can do custom hot rolled shapes, let our team assist you with your next design.
